How to uninstall multiple apps on Mac
Two ways to uninstall multiple Mac apps at once: using Finder or AppGrid’s visual multi-select workflow.
Quick answer: Open Finder’s Applications folder, hold Command while selecting the apps, then press Command + Delete. If you organize apps visually, AppGrid Pro can also uninstall several selected apps from its grid. Both methods move application bundles to Trash; they do not automatically erase every related file.
Method 1: uninstall multiple apps with Finder
You do not need another utility for basic bulk removal. Finder can move several application bundles to Trash in one action.
- Quit every app you intend to remove.
- Open Finder, then choose Applications in the sidebar.
- Hold Command and click each application you want to remove.
- Press Command + Delete, or right-click the selection and choose Move to Trash.
- Enter an administrator password if macOS asks for one.
- Inspect Trash before emptying it.
What Finder removes
Moving an app to Trash removes its application bundle after Trash is emptied. Settings, caches, saved state, documents, cloud data, and other related files may remain elsewhere on the Mac.
Method 2: bulk uninstall apps from AppGrid
AppGrid Pro lets you choose applications from the same visual grid used to organize and launch them. This is useful when icons are easier to recognize than application names in a Finder list.

Select the applications
Open AppGrid and Command-click each app you want to remove. You can also turn on Edit mode with Command + E, then click each app. Select applications only—not folders.

Choose Uninstall
Right-click one selected app and choose Uninstall. The action applies to the full selection.

Review the confirmation
AppGrid lists applications it can move and explains any it must skip. If an app is running, quit it and choose Try Again.

Move the apps to Trash
Choose Move to Trash. AppGrid may request administrator authentication for an app in
/Applicationsthat your account does not own. - 5
Inspect and empty Trash
Confirm that the intended applications were moved. Empty Trash only when you no longer need to restore them.
Uninstall is not the toolbar trash button
The trash icon in AppGrid’s Edit mode toolbar means Remove from AppGrid. It removes selected icons from the layout but leaves the applications installed. To uninstall, right-click the selected apps and explicitly choose Uninstall.
What happens to associated app data?
For a bulk uninstall, AppGrid moves the selected application bundles to Trash and leaves associated data in place. This avoids deleting data that may be shared or difficult to identify safely.
When you uninstall one app at a time, AppGrid can offer matching files as optional cleanup. The confirmation can include:
- Settings and saved application state
- Application Support and container data
- Caches and website data
- Logs
Nothing in that list is selected silently. AppGrid preserves documents, shared containers, iCloud data, and Keychain items. Removing sandboxed container data may require Full Disk Access; AppGrid explains this before opening System Settings.
Why an app may not uninstall
- The app is running
- Quit it completely, return to AppGrid, and try again.
- It is a protected system app
- macOS prevents removal. AppGrid does not bypass system protection.
- Administrator permission is required
- Authenticate when prompted. AppGrid uses elevated permission only for eligible items that need it.
- The app cannot be found
- The grid entry may point to an application that was already moved or deleted. Remove the stale icon from AppGrid instead.
- AppGrid itself is selected
- AppGrid cannot uninstall itself. Use Finder if you need to remove AppGrid.
